A note on the zero-sum gains data envelopment analysis model

نویسندگان

چکیده

In the case of proportional output reduction strategy with a single output, Variable-Returns-to-Scale (VRS) Zero-Sum Gains Data Envelopment Analysis (ZSG-DEA) efficiency scores can be obtained from VRS conventional DEA by means Target’s Assessment Theorem (TAT). Using TAT as departure point, two relations for computing ZSG-DEA appear in literature. Our objective this note is to compare, contrast and challenge them on both theoretical empirical grounds. For latter, three different data sets are used.

Modelling undesirable outputs with zero sum gains data envelopment analysis models

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) literature has proposed alternative models for performance assessment in the presence of undesirable outputs, such as pollutant emissions, where increased outputs imply reduced performance. However, the case where global equilibrium of outputs should be imposed has not yet been considered. We propose that the zero sum gains DEA (ZSG-DEA) models look especially su...

Olympic ranking based on a zero sum gains DEA model

It is usual to rank the participating countries in the Olympic Games in accordance with the number of medals they have won. An alternative ranking is suggested in this paper. This ranking is based on each country’s ability to win medals in relation to its available resources. This is an efficiency that can be measured with the help of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) for which two models exist: ...

Do market share and efficiency matter for each other? An application of the zero-sum gains data envelopment analysis

Current studies that use traditional data envelopment analysis (DEA) neglect the 100% market share restriction. This study adopts zero-sum gains data envelopment analysis to measure the efficiency scores of securities firms (SFs) and indicates that the traditional DEA model underestimates the efficiency scores of inefficient SFs. This research analyses 266 integrated securities firms in Taiwan ...

A note on “Supplier selection by the pair of nondiscretionary factors-imprecise data envelopment analysis models”

Recently, Farzipoor Saen [Journal of the Operational Research Society, 60(11), 1575–1582 (2009)] proposed a method based on data envelopment analysis to identify optimistic efficient suppliers in the presence of nondiscretionary factors-imprecise data. This short communication aims at showing a computational error in computing the value of preference intensity parameter in Farzipoor Saen’s [...
